We host book-themed community events across Eagle, Meridian, and Boise to fund supportive care for patients navigating serious illness — because no one should read their hardest chapter alone.
Story Strong is a Treasure Valley nonprofit that raises funds for patient supportive care through events built around the thing that brings our community together: a good story.
Book bedazzling, Blind Date with a Book, Book Bingo, and painting bricks to look like your favorite covers — every event is built around a story worth showing up for.
Proceeds go directly toward supportive care that helps cancer patients and their families through treatment.
We believe fundraising should feel like an outing with friends, old and new, not an obligation — so people keep coming back.
Grab your cards and your book club — Book Bingo returns for a night of prizes, page-turning trivia, and community, all in support of patient supportive care.
Pre-buy your cards and get 5 bingo cards for $20. At the door, cards are $5 apiece.
Buy TicketsOur hands-on, family-friendly event at Storey Park raised funds for Angel Bags, which are given to women in the Caldwell area newly diagnosed with breast cancer.
Proceeds from this event went to Bustin' Out of Boise, which provides supportive care — housecleaning, childcare, food, and transportation to appointments — for women battling any form of cancer.
This event supported Cary's Care Kits, which provides dental and oral care kits to women undergoing chemotherapy to help manage treatment side effects.
Story Strong directs proceeds toward patient supportive care — the practical, emotional, and comfort-focused support that isn't always covered by treatment alone.
Donations of any size go straight toward supportive care for patients in our community. Story Strong is a registered nonprofit — a receipt is provided for every gift.
Donate NowEach of us brings a different role and a different specialty, but Story Strong only works because we build it together — as one unit, one board, one story.
Hi, I'm Brianna — the founder of Story Strong and a breast cancer survivor. Walking through cancer changed everything. It stripped life down to what truly matters and showed me the power of community, love, and showing up for one another. The women on the Story Strong board aren't just friends; they're part of the reason I made it through. They sat with me in the dark moments, held space for my grief and fear, and celebrated every small victory. They helped me find healing, not just in my body, but in my heart. When I dreamed of starting a nonprofit to support others going through treatment, they were the first people I called. Books have always been a lifeline for me. As a teenager, I spent most of my Friday nights curled up with a book and a cat; escaping into stories was always a favorite pastime. That hasn't changed much, except now the stories are a bit spicier and there might be two cats instead of one. But the comfort is still the same. Story Strong is our way of giving back, of wrapping others in the same kind of love and support that carried me through.
Hi, I'm Jana! I'm a proud wife, mom, and lifelong Idahoan. You'll almost always find me juggling a physical book and an audiobook — romance, fantasy, and romantasy are my go-to genres. When I first heard Bri's vision for Story Strong, I knew I had to be part of it. I've watched people I love face cancer, and seeing them go through that journey left me feeling helpless. Being part of Story Strong has given me a renewed sense of purpose — it's an honor to help make even a small difference for others walking that difficult road.
Hello, my name is Anna and I have worn many hats in my life, but always accessorized them by carrying a book, whether it was Nancy Drew, Harry Potter, or Romeo and Juliet. I am proud to be a native Idahoan, an educator, and more recently, a mom. Watching someone you love walk through a serious illness like cancer is soul-crushing. The ache of helplessness, the weight of worry, and the strain of trying to keep a brave face on takes a toll. Always asking yourself if you said the right thing, or if you should have just listened, or if there is some unknown need you should have anticipated. Those of you with the helping gene know what I am talking about. The need to help, to do something (even if it's just sitting and watching hours of Bob's Burgers during recovery) is urgent, necessary. Story Strong's mission is to help. We do not want to reinvent the wheel; we want to support the local organizations that are already doing the work of bringing supportive care and resources to those who are walking through cancer treatments and recovery. Our goal is to bring fun, bookish events to Treasure Valley book lovers, to transform our love of reading (and a good theme) into events that will reach further than just a good time, a happy memory. To bring help and hope where it's needed. ✨ Story Strong is built by helpers, and it is for the helpers.
Hi, I'm Melody! I'm a busy mom of two boys and an entrepreneur, but if there's one thread that's woven through every aspect of my life, it's the importance of community. Through tough times and happy ones, having a strong circle of family and friends makes all the difference. So when Brianna came to me with this idea for a nonprofit that not only provides ways for people to connect with new friends, but also fosters support for those in our community who are struggling, I didn't hesitate to say yes! I know how life-changing it can be to find real companionship, and the chance to help create that for others is something I couldn't pass up. So many people I know have been affected by cancer, whether personally or through a loved one, and there are many more who may not have shared that struggle with me. We are excited to create a space for people to share their stories and be surrounded by support, along with an environment of fun and friendship. Bringing my financial expertise to help get this off the ground feels like the perfect way to support a cause I care deeply about. I'm so grateful to be working alongside these amazing women, and I'm excited for the new stories, friendships, and chapters we'll create together!
